The Blair-Caldwell Library's Obama Exhibit - When Hope Won

The Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library in Denver's Five Points neighborhood had an exhibit called "When Hope Won: the Road to the White House" from January 10 to mid-March, 2009. The exhibit featured paintings, newspapers, memorabilia and some photographs taken by Colorado residents at various rallies and the Democratic National Convention during Obama's historic run for the white house.

For more information about the exhibit see the library's website: When Hope Won: The Road to the White House.

Some of my own photographs were included in the exhibit, including this one:

Most of the items on display were contributed by Denver and Colorado residents. This exhibit was a nice way to involve the community in creating something to chronicle Colorado's involvement in these historic events.

Obama is almost in the center of the photo, just below the right column of the Civic Center building. You can click the photo for a larger view at Flickr (click on "all sizes" when you get there).

Barack Obama's Iraq War Memorial Bracelet

Barack Obama in Pueblo, Colorado, showing his Iraq War memorial braceletBarack Obama at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo, Colorado, September 15, 2008. The bracelet on his right wrist is for a fallen American soldier in Iraq. It is engraved, "Sgt. Ryan David Jopek, August 2 2006. All gave some - he gave all." The bracelet was given to Obama by the soldier's mother.

"She gave me this wristband, which I'm very grateful for. I meet mothers and family members all over the country who are still mourning their children but are also thinking about the young men and women who are still over there and wondering when it will end." -Barack Obama at a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin
